This day out takes you to Capri, a beautiful and rugged island that’s made a name for itself as the stomping ground of both ancient Roman emperors and today’s A-list stars. You’ll board a traditional Sorrentine fishing boat called a gozzo and float across the Bay of Naples towards the tiny isle. Along the way, you’ll spot the clifftop natural arch, the fjord of Furore, and the Li Galli Islands, where Homer’s epic Odyssey claims Ulysses encountered the deadly sirens. Once you’ve reached Capri, you’ll tour the island by sea. The coastal route takes you past the island’s famous caves, including the chalky walls of the White Grotto, and the jade-coloured water of the Green Grotto. You can pay a bit extra to slip into the world-renowned Blue Grotto, too. Later, you’ll land at Marina Grande and have some free time to explore the pint-sized piazzas, Moorish-style alleyways, and pavement trattorias of the town centre.

The food and wine in Italy is up there with the world’s best, and this tour gives you a great introduction to it. You’ll tour the Feudi di San Gregorio Winery, one of southern Italy’s biggest, strolling through sun-dappled vineyards and getting a first-hand look at how mozzarella is made. Lunch is included in the trip, and the starter includes a sizeable chunk of the mozzarella whipped up in front of you earlier, as well as a selection of other cheeses, salamis and flatbreads. For your main course, you’ll be treated to not one, but two bowlfuls of pasta – cooked ‘al dente’ or ‘firm to the bite’ just as the locals eat it. You’ll get to sample five different wines, too, including a sparkling variety and the organic Pietracalda Fiano di Avellino, a lovely, silky red.
You’ll feel like a true local with this evening tour. It’ll see you strolling winding streets, climbing stone stairways and browsing bejewelled sandals from stylish boutiques. We’ll whisk you away to the colourful fishing port of Positano, once described by author John Steinbeck as a ‘dream place’. It’s no surprise the town has been turning heads since the Fifties, with its pastel-coloured houses stacked among the steep cliff face. And you’ll be able to see it all for sunset, as we stop to watch from above – on a terrace overlooking the town. Once we’ve meandered our way down, you can wander the traditional stores for handmade moccasins, or head to the 11th century Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta – you’ll spot its decorated dome rising above the rooftops. When you’ve worked up an appetite, you’ll be treated to a three-course meal, overlooking the Mediterranean.
Naples is like the lesser-known cousin of Venice and Rome. But, that doesn’t mean there’s less to see. This trip will give you an authentic slice of southern Italian life as you explore the churches, squares and legendary pizzerias. You’ll head into the UNESCO-rated city centre, where the first stops are Gesù Nuovo church, with its pyramid-covered frontage, and the Gothic Santa Chiara. Next, you’ll head to San Gregorio Armeno, or Christmas Alley – home to the nativity scene makers and their famous figurines. You can expect big things from lunch, as Naples is Italy’s pizza capital. Julia Roberts even tucked into a margherita here in 2010 film Eat Pray Love. After lunch, you can wander the Royal Palace, shop in swanky Galleria Umberto I, or visit San Carlo – the oldest active opera house in Europe. Before heading home, there’s time for cake and coffee at the famous Caffé Gambrinus, which boasts Oscar Wilde as a former customer.
You’ll walk in the footsteps of Matt Damon and Cate Blanchett on this full-day cruise. First stop is the Bay of Naples’ smallest island, Procida. You might recognise its pastel-hued houses and narrow cobbled streets, complete with washing lines – they were immortalised in 1999 film The Talented Mr Ripley. You’ll have some time to swim and snorkel, before heading to the main port, with its shabby-chic charm. Wander the waterside shops, restaurants and bars, or head up the slopes into the heart of the traditional village. Next, you’ll head back to the boat and on to Ischia, stopping at the Bay of Cartaromana, mushroom-shaped Lacco Ameno and Maronti beach, where you can walk to the island’s famous natural springs. You’ll dock in Sant’Angelo for the afternoon – a haven for peace and wellness, with thermal spa resorts lining the shore. Finish your day with some limoncello, as you sail back to port.
This tour lets you soak up Capri’s postcard-perfect views by day and chic atmosphere come sundown. The island is famed for its upmarket boutiques, luxury hotels and swanky bars. So, it’s no surprise that everyone from ancient Greeks to Hollywood stars have fallen for its elegant charm. You’ll start with a tour of the island by boat, so you can spot the crags and grottoes that have been drawing in visitors for decades. And, just as the swathes of day-trippers are retreating home, you’ll be dropped off in Capri Town for the evening. You can explore the harbours under your own steam, dipping in and out of designer shops and celeb-spotting as you go. The town’s centre is a maze of car-free streets, sandwiched between traditional whitewashed houses. After exploring, you can dine alongside celebs or head to the square for a simple Caprese salad – invented here in the Fifties.
his tour will give you a real dose of history. You’ll make the scenic boat trip to the port of Castellammare di Stabia. From here, it’s a short bus ride to the Roman city of Pompeii. You’ll feel as if you’ve travelled back in time as a guide leads you around the once sprawling metropolis. Temples, villas and streets look more or less as they did 2,000 years ago, when Mount Vesuvius blew its top. You can even catch a glimpse of the residents who were turned to stone as they fled.
