We’re turning you into an honourary Santiaguino on this city tour that takes you inside local life! Hop onto local transit and discover the best places to eat, the best sites to see, and the best spots for just hanging out. By the end of it, you’ll be blending in like a true Santiago local.

We’re starting our Santiago tour in the morning — the best time for enjoying the city and escaping the crowds on public transit. We’ll meet at La Moneda in the Plaza de la Constitucion — an iconic place in Santiago and a popular gathering point for many locals.

From there, we’ll head to the neighbourhood of La Alameda, a place that’s popular with locals thanks to its gorgeous architecture and blending of the old and new city. We’ll explore an area that’s known as the heart and soul of Santiago — and where the city first started and grew into what it is today. Discover sites like the Plaza de Armas and get a feel for what makes this city so great. (Don’t forget your camera — this area is excellent for photos!)

From there, you’ll travel like a local with a ride on the metro and a stop at Mercado Central, starring some of the freshest produce in the country. Wander the aisles and watch how locals shop and bargain for the best deal — and maybe even try your own negotiation skills. Best of all, we’re going to eat some typical Chilean dishes! Oooooh yeah. Food is included.

Next, your Santiago tour will lead you to La Vega Central, a local market just on the other side of the Mapocho River. You can find everything you could imagine here, from souvenirs to healing potions — and when we say everything, we mean EVERYTHING!

Our Santiago tour is then going onwards and upwards — literally! We’re taking the cable car to the top of Cerro San Cristobal. At the top, you’ll have the best view of the city, so keep that camera handy. You’ll want to show off your awe-inspiring photos to everyone back home, right?!

We’ll finish up our Santiago tour with lunch (we hope you liked the food at the market!) in the beautiful, bohemian Bellavista neighbourhood. This hipster district is home to up-and-coming restaurants, making it the perfect place to stop for a delicious Chilean meal. We’ll dine at a beloved local restaurant before heading back to where we started, but with the expertise of true Santiaguinos.

Start things off where Santiago started – Plaza de Armas – and head straight for a local bar. Your transformation into a real Santiaguino begins now, as we teach you how to order your first drink in Spanish. Don’t worry if you don’t get it right the first time, there’s plenty of time to practice this evening (and don’t we all get better at languages after a drink or two?!).

Enjoy your typical Chilean drink in the company of locals, really experiencing Santiago’s social culture. From there, we’ll venture off to the next bar, about a 15 minute walk away. As we walk, your local guide will share stories about life in Santiago and answer any questions you have. This next bar is one of our favourites, as its atmosphere is one of true political satire. Great drinks and politician mockery? What’s not to love?! Next up we head to our third bar, this one located in the Bellavista neighbourhood. One of our (and most locals’) favourite neighbourhoods to hang out in, Bellavista is mostly home to Bohemians and artists. It’s full of street art, hipster shops, fantastic restaurants, and plenty of pubs, discos, bars, and other great spots to spend the evening.

The finish off the tour, we’ll take you to the best salsa nightclub in Santiago, where you’ll be treated to a salsa lesson. Learn the moves, then spend the rest of the evening dancing the night away with your new friends in the beautiful city of Santiago de Chile. Note that on Saturdays the salsa lessons are unavailable – we still end the evening in a salsa bar, but rather spend the time enjoying good beer and live music instead of learning to dance.
