On this tour, you’ll buckle up and travel into the one of the wildest and most remote regions in Cyprus – the Troodos Mountains. Your transport for the day is a sturdy 4x4, so you’ll have no problem getting off the beaten track and trundling over virgin terrain with your guide. The scenery up here is ever-changing, and spans vast meadows, orchards and thick forests filled with birdlife. Expect spectacular views along the way – you’ll reach heights of around 2,000 metres above sea level.
You don’t have to travel to France or Italy for fine wine, as this trip will take you to some of the best wineries in Cyprus. You might be surprised to hear that Cyprus is home to the oldest wine in the world, Commandaria, a sweet, rich dessert wine from the 13th century. And it’s this famous region where you’ll head to the first of the family-owned wineries, Vlassides. Here you can learn about the wine-making process, before wrapping up your tour with some tasting. Your next stop is the Tsiakkas winery where there’s more wine on the menu for you to sample. And if you’re feeling peckish after all that, fear not, as you’ll head to the picturesque village of Pelendri for a traditional Cypriot meze lunch – a selection of dishes like halloumi, olives, stuffed vine leaves and barbecued chicken and meatballs.
Grab your big shades and best hat for a morning at sea. If you’ve ever wanted to live the millionaire lifestyle, this half-day cruise gives you a little taste. You’ll set sail for the Blue Flag beach of Coral Bay. Here, you’ll get the chance to swim and snorkel in the shallow turquoise waters. Back on deck, the crew will keep you feeling relaxed with music and commentary for each interesting spot. And once anchored-down, you’ll tuck into a light buffet lunch with seasonal fresh fruit. You can take advantage of the fully-stocked open bar onboard, offering free tea, coffee, soft drinks, spirits and cocktails. You’ll cruise further up the coastline, passing the rugged sea caves, formed over millions of years, and popular dive-spot, St George’s Island. Then, a live entertainer will sing you all the way back to Paphos harbour.
Explore the city on two wheels instead of two feet, as you roll your way around the Kato Paphos or Lighthouse area. You’ll glide past historical attractions, traditional architecture and little alleys as you get to grips with a spot of Segway sightseeing. There’s the former Byzantine castle and the Kato Paphos Archeological Park – made up of plenty of preserved mosaics, ruins and a lighthouse. And don’t worry, just because you’re ‘driving’ it doesn’t mean we’ll let you miss a photo opportunity – you’ll have an experienced tour guide in tow, too. As you roll along the famous shoreline, you’ll hear all the stories and anecdotes about the historic area. In just two hours, you’ll have seen so much more of the UNESCO-rated city than if you ventured out on foot.
Even if you haven’t yet heard of a Segway – a two-wheel scooter-like device – you’ll be an expert by the end of this two-hour guided tour. The session starts with a safety briefing, so you’ll know the ins and outs of your Segway before you set off towards the seaside town of Kato Paphos. It’s home to the archaeological site of an ancient city, which was founded by a king in the 4th century BC. This was once an important political centre until it was badly damaged by an earthquake. Fortunately, the town’s impressive collection of intricate mosaics survived the quake, and can still be seen today. The House of Dionysos – the god of wine – is a great example of this. It’s the town’s largest and most well-known mosaic house. Many of its floors are covered with patterns, which tell the story of the legend this monument is named after.
You’ll get to know the real Cyprus during this evening trip to Kelokedara, where you’ll meet the people – plus the donkeys – who live here. Set in countryside 45 minutes from Paphos, the remote village is home to less than 300 people. The average age is 55 years, so the abandoned primary school has been turned in to a cultural centre, which you’ll visit this evening. As you’re led through the cobbled streets, you’ll get to taste some local delicacies including the firewater, Zivania. Next, you’ll get a riding demo before taking the donkey safari up to the Sindi Monastery. This monument hasn’t seen any monks since the 16th century. These days it’s more famous for its UNESCO World Heritage status. When the sun sets, you’ll eat in true Cypriot style – choose from dishes such as pork with wine and coriander, cracked bulgar wheat, and barbecue pork with oregano. After dinner, there’ll be music and traditional dan
On this trip you’ll set sail at Latchi harbour and tour the Akamas peninsula, which juts out into the sea on the north-west corner of the island. The main destination for the tour is the Blue Lagoon – a large bay with crystal clear, warm water and a popular spot for snorkelling. From the boat, your guide will point out sights including sea caves and the tiny Saint George’s Island. And there will be a stop at Lara Beach or Geronisos, depending on the time of year. Lara Beach is a sandy strip that’s home to loggerhead and green turtles and Geronisos is an island popular with photographers for its Instagram-worthy scenery. When the boat reaches the lagoon, you’ll be able to refuel with a barbecue buffet lunch before taking a dip. See if you can spot a crab or starfish through your snorkel. The crew will be running games and competitions for kids and drinks will be sold at the bar throughout the day.
On this trip you’ll explore the Akamas peninsula by land and sea. And, rather than your typical coach set-up, you’ll be in a four-wheel drive. The area is known for its natural beauty, so make sure you’ve got your camera ready. First on the agenda is Lara Beach, the home of a Turtle Conservation Project that’s been protecting endangered sea turtles for three decades. Next, your guide will drive you to Latchi harbour, where you’ll board a boat to the Blue Lagoon. With clear, turquoise waters this bay is a great swimming spot. You might see turtles here, too. Once you get back to Latchi, you’ll have a traditional meze-style lunch in a local restaurant. Then, you’ll hop back into the 4x4 to visit the Baths of Aphrodite, which are set on top of a hill with views over the peninsula. It’s said this is where the Goddess of Love, Aphrodite, met her lover, Adonis. And, legend has it a dip in the water gives you eternal youth.
