1st Day:
7:00am departure from Fairbanks. Trans-Alaska-Pipeline – Get a close up view of the famous pipeline and learn interesting facts about the engineering and building period. Breakfast at Hilltop, a rustic truck stop. Cross the mighty Yukon River. Arctic Circle – Have your picture taken at Arctic Circle and receive your Arctic Circle Certificate. Coldfoot – Visit the state-of-the-art visitor center at the famous halfway stop along the Dalton Highway. Dinner at Coldfoot Camp. Spend a romantic night in the gold mining village of Wiseman. (With fully occupancy, we stay in Coldfoot.)
2nd Day:
Continental breakfast. Gates of the Arctic National Park – Astonishing peaks, great views and with a little luck you will spot Grizzly Bears and Dall Sheep. Arctic Tundra – Experience the beautiful arctic and view Musk Ox and Caribou in their natural habitat. Deadhorse – The supplying town for Prudhoe Bay. Information and safety presentation about the oil field. Prudhoe Bay Alaska– Visit the oil field and touch the edge of the mystic Alaska Arctic Ocean.
Early dinner in Prudhoe Bay. Drive back through Arctic Tundra and Brooks Range in the late evening hours. Overnight in our accommodations in Wiseman. (With fully occupancy, we stay in Coldfoot).
3rd Day:
Morning hike through historic Wiseman and along the Koyukuk River. Late breakfast at Coldfoot Camp. Finger Mountain – A short nature hike in a beautiful high plateau above the tree line. Yukon River – Walk right to the edge of Alaska’s most famous river. It will impress you with its majesty and history. Dinner at Yukon Camp. Joy Alaska, the Arctic Circle Trading Post. 10:00pm arrival at your location in Fairbanks.

Continental breakfast. Prudhoe Bay Alaska– Visit the oil field and touch the edge of the mystic Alaska Arctic Ocean. Drive back through Arctic Tundra and Brooks Range. Dinner at Coldfoot camp. Overnight in our accommodations in Wiseman. (With fully occupancy, we stay in Coldfoot).

The Murphy Dome Tour is the One of the best northern lights viewing areas near Fairbanks and a favorite spot for many aurora photographers. With 2,890 feet altitude, Murphy Dome is one of the highest peaks in the Fairbanks area. This 360 degree horizon sets the stage for a phenomenal northern lights show. Viewing the Aurora Borealis above tree line presents you with a wide horizon and an incredible view of the Alaska night sky. Our preferred viewing area is right on top of Murphy Dome and does not have restroom facility. We stay warm in our 12-15 passenger van while waiting for the dancing northern lights.

Borealis, our conversation can involve dog mushing, interesting facts and native stories about the Northern Lights, or any Alaskan subject you are interested in. Explore life on the edge, living off the grid and close to nature. There are no public utilities in our neighborhood. Our guests need to know that we do not have “typical” indoor plumbing. There is a composting toilet. Large north facing windows allow you to view the aurora from the warmth of our cabin, but most people want to enjoy the dancing of the Northern Lights at our spacious outdoor viewing area. A variety of entertainment is in place for your enjoyment while waiting for the Northern Lights to dance.

There is plenty of time to make your favorite Dog Mushing pictures and play with our Alaska huskies. Arctic gear (parka, pants, boots and mittens) is provided for all our Dog Mushing / Sledding adventures. Break away, and mush with us into the twilight of the Alaskan wilderness.
Join us for an aurora photo course at one of our prime viewing lodges. To photograph the Northern Lights is a task that baffles many experienced photographers. The Aurora Borealis tends to come quickly and there is no time to fumble with cameras. We will teach you to professionally handle your own equipment, using the right settings and adjustments.
Advanced photographic equipment is a clear advantage and cameras should have a few features such as manual operation options, adjustable ISO settings and long exposure capabilities and be tripod mountable. So we can concentrate on our guest’s one on one to ensure you come back home with the best Northern Lights pictures possible.
Upon arrival at our kennel the huskies will be ready and waiting for you to bundle up and climb into the sled. The experience of starlight and moonlight reflecting off the snow while gliding down the silent trail is magical. Most of the night ride is in open area, so should the Aurora start early you will have a thrilling view of the sky from the dogsled. Back at the cabin our home cooked dinner will be served while we wait for the Northern Lights to put on their show.
Once the Aurora is out you can enjoy it right from inside the cabin or our spacious outdoor viewing area. A variety of entertainment is in place for your enjoyment while waiting for the Aurora to dance. DVD’s featuring fascinating video and information on the Aurora Borealis and Dog Mushing are available for viewing.
