Our 5 Hour Kenai Fjords Wildlife Cruise explores the calm, protected waters and rugged coastline of Resurrection Bay. You will experience up-close encounters with wildlife as we guide our ship along massive bird rookeries and sea lion colonies, stopping along the route to view passing whales and otters. You will see alpine glaciers tucked in the surrounding Chugach and Kenai Mountain Ranges. You will also cruise by Bear Glacier, a piedmont glacier and the largest glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park. The protected waters of Resurrection Bay are calmer than the open waters of Kenai Fjords National Park, making this tour ideal for those who are prone to seasickness.
Several alpine glaciers, nestled high in the mountains surrounding Resurrection Bay, can be seen along the route if the weather cooperates. We will also cruise by Bear Glacier, a piedmont glacier and the largest glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park.
As we approach the end of Resurrection Bay we will visit Cape Resurrection, home to both Steller sea lions and thousands of nesting seabirds. The captain will stop the boat close to the sea lion colonies and seabird rookeries, providing excellent photo opportunities. Along the route you will have the chance to see abundant wildlife such as whales, sea otters, Dall’s porpoises, eagles, mountain goats, and many types of seabirds.
A National Park Ranger will be onboard to provide a detailed narrative on the history, ecology, geology, and wildlife in the area. They are always more than happy to answer all of your questions during the cruise.

Fifteen minutes into the cruise we will begin serving our optional all-you-can-eat Alaska salmon and prime rib meal that is freshly prepared onboard. This meal is served buffet style and is consistently rated as the best of any day-cruise company in Southcentral Alaska. While you enjoy our cruising restaurant service you will be able to sit at your reserved seat inside the heated cabin and not miss out on any of the beautiful scenery.
The meal is served by table number, but if you would rather be on one of the outside viewing decks when your table is called you will have plenty of time to enjoy your meal when the crew opens the buffet for seconds for all tables.
Come aboard the Kenai Star for a memorable cruise to the most spectacular glaciers in Prince William Sound. This 4.5 hour glacier cruise departs daily from Whittier and ventures into the calm, protected waters of Prince William Sound, where seasickness is highly unlikely. The best option for the glacier enthusiast, this cruise spends approximately 40 minutes in front of two active tidewater glaciers and one active hanging glacier to maximize your chances of seeing spectacular glacier calving, where massive chunks of glacial ice crash into the water. Enjoy your time floating among the icebergs as the massive Blackstone and Beloit Glaciers tower 700 feet over the 85-foot vessel.
Nine named alpine and cirque glaciers are visible in the nearby mountains as we cruise. A fjord is a deep, u-shaped valley which has been formed by glacial erosion.
