Your tour will start with an early morning. You will drive along the European shore of the Marmara Sea, seeing some lovely summer houses on the sea side, with vast sun flower fields on the land side.
You will also travel by the shores of the Dardanelles, as you will pass by Gallipoli, another land of gallantry where the famous “Gentlemen’s War” was fought between the Ottoman and Anzac troops during the WW1.
As you cross the Dardanelles by ferry, and drive the last 25 minutes to the site of Troy; you will become a part of Homer’s legends; seeing the symbolic Trojan horse, the city walls, The Athena Temple and the Odeon.
Following the visit of the Trojan site, you will cross back to the European side of the Dardanelles to get to Gallipoli. Visit all famous battlefields and the cemeteries of Gallipoli and see the tragedy and the heroism of this famous battle.
Gallipoli is amazing, a beautiful place with such a sad and tragic history. During World War I, some of the most ferocious battles were both here among the Ottomans and the Anzac soldiers, young heroes aged only 18 and 19.
It was referred to as the 'The Gentlemen's War', because while shots were traded among trenches that were only 40 foot apart in some places, amazingly, a kind of camaraderie developed between the Allied soldiers and the Turks, they swapped cigarettes and other supplies and formed a mutual respect that lasts even to this day.
Today, a special ceremony called the Anzac Day Dawn Service is held in this site every year, on April 25th, to honor the lost heroes of the Gentlemen’s War. The souls of heroes, belonging to different ages, will accompany you on your trip back to Istanbul.
Settled on the northwestern slopes of Mount Uludag in the southern Marmara Region, Bursa is frequently cited as "Green Bursa", in reference to the parks and gardens located across its urban tissue, as well as to the vast forests in rich variety that extend in its surroundings.
The first major capital city in the early years of the Ottoman Empire; Bursa kept its importance as a commercial center, especially as the source of most royal silk products during the Ottoman period. Thus, Bursa has traditionally been a pole of attraction, and was a major center for refugees from various ethnic backgrounds; and it holds an immaculate heritage of Ottoman civil architecture.
The tour starts with an early departure from the hotel. The ferry trip to the nearby city of Yalova is followed by a 45-minute drive to Bursa. Places to visit are The Green Mosque, the Green Tomb, the Grand Mosque, the Covered Bazaar and the Old Silk Market. You may also taste the world famous “Iskender Kebap”. The return to Istanbul follows the same route.
Historically known as Adrianople or Edrene, is a city in the northwestern Turkey, in the region of East Thrace, close to Turkey's borders with Greece and Bulgaria. Edirne served as the second capital city of the Ottoman Empire from 1363 to 1453, before Constantinople (present-day Istanbul) became the empire's third and final capital.
Having so much in common with Istanbul and Bursa, Edirne has a special place in Ottoman and Turkish history. Edirne was a kind of transitional form, between traditional and modern Ottoman Empire having the most complicated buildings and traditional life at the same time as the Ottoman capital.
Bayezid Külliye(Complex), Selimiye Mosque (UNESCO's World Heritage List), Eski(Old) Mosque, Üç Serefeli (3 Minarets) and Ali Pasa Çarsisi (Bazaar) are the most important historical places in Edirne. Selimiye Mosque was described as his masterpiece by famous Ottoman architect "Sinan" himself.
Beside its historical places Edirne offers delicious and tasty foods, too. Traditional foods-especially Ciger(fried liver)-, pastry and unique desserts... You can find a new taste of Ottoman/Turkish cuisine which you will definitely love.
You can also see the place "Kirkpinar (Fourty Springs)" where Traditional Oil Wrestling Competition is being held for 655 years (2015). Here you will have an idea about sports history and famous "Pehlivans (Wrestlers)".
The name Kirkpinar-Fourty Springs comes from the rivers and springs around place. Three main rivers, Meric, Tunca and Arda across each other in Edirne. There are many other rivers and creeks around Edirne. Inevitably, there are bridges when rivers are around. Tas Köprü, Tunca Köprüsü, Gazimihal Köprüsü and Bayezid Köprüsü are the main bridges which connect main roads of the city. There are also many old bridges around the city. Tas Köprü is the primary one to be visited!
First council of Nicea (Iznik) was held here under the reign of Constantine that defined the clearer concept of Holy Trinity in 325 AD. The doctrine of the Trinity was then finalized at the Council of Constantinople in 381 AD, which expressly included the Holy Ghost as equal to the Father and the Son. It was also at Iznik that the Second Council of Nicaea met in 787 to discuss the issues of iconography.
The city was conquered and incorporated into the Ottoman Empire in the 14th century. The town later became a major center for the creation of a local faience pottery (known as the Iznik Çini, Çin meaning China – Chinese porcelain stood in great favor with the Sultans.) Iznik tiles were used to decorate many of the mosques in Istanbul designed by Sinan. Iznik, apart from its biblical legacy, holds a beautiful heritage of Ottoman civil and administrative architecture.
Your tour starts with an early departure from the hotel. The ferry trip to the nearby town of Yalova will be followed by a 45 minute drive to Iznik (Nicea), passing by beautiful countryside. In Iznik, you will see the ruins of the Haghia Sophia of Nicea and the City Walls as well as the Green Mosque. After the visit to Iznik, your tour will continue with a visit to Bursa.
Settled on the northwestern slopes of Mount Uludag in the southern Marmara Region, Bursa is frequently cited as "Green Bursa", in reference to the parks and gardens located across its urban tissue, as well as to the vast forests in rich variety that extend in its surroundings. Places to visit are The Green Mosque, The Green Tomb, The Grand Mosque, The Covered Bazaar and The Old Silk Market. You may also taste the world famous “Iskender Kebap”. The return to Istanbul follows the same route.
The Greek mythology associates the founding of the city with Orestes, son of king Agamemnon of Homer’s Iliad. The city was (re)founded eponymously by the Roman Emperor Hadrian, hence the origin of its name today. Strategically located, Edirne has been in the middle of no less than 16 wars or sieges throughout its history, before it was conquered by the Ottoman Sultan Murad 1st in mid-thirteenth century. Edirne served as the capital city of the Ottoman Empire from 1365 to 1453; until the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople (Istanbul) which became the empire's new capital.
This beautiful city is famed for its many mosques, elegant domes and minarets; and it contains the ruins of the ancient palace of the Sultans. The Selimiye Mosque, built in 1575 by the master architect Sinan, his masterpiece in his own words, is located in Edirne as well. It has the highest minarets in Turkey, at 70.9 meters, of an altogether grandiose appearance, and a cupola which is four feet higher than that of Hagia Sophia in Istanbul.
The Edirne tour starts with an early departure from Istanbul, as you will have a nice drive ahead of you, first alongside the European Cost of the Marmara Sea, and then towards inland Thrace. You will witness the unique countryside lifestyle in this region. Major sights to visit in Edirne are; The Selimiye Mosque, the masterpiece of Architect Sinan and The Üç Serefeli Mosque, as well as the The Covered Bazaar. You may also try the regional cuisine, or have some delicious sea food along the drive back to Istanbul.
Day 1: Istanbul, Troy and Pergamum.
On the first day of your journey, you will visit Troy, the site of the Trojan War and Pergamum, the birthplace of parchment. Your tour will start with an early morning departure from the hotel at 6am. You will drive along the European shore of the Marmara Sea, seeing some lovely summer houses on the sea side, with vast sun flower fields on the land side.
As you cross the Dardanelles by ferry, and drive the last 25 minutes to the site of Troy; you will become a part of Homer’s legends; seeing the symbolic Trojan horse, the city walls, The Athena Temple and the Odeon. After the visit, you may opt for lunch in a local restaurant. Then you will follow the route taken by those who have escaped the fall of Troy, fleeing from the wrath of Agamemnon, to the city of Pergamum.
It is believed that the word parchment is a derivative of Pergamum. According to Pliny the parchment was invented under the patronage of Eumenes of Pergamum, as a substitute for papyrus. Pergamum had hosted one of the biggest libraries of ancient ages, before it was destroyed. Pergamum is also the original home for the The Great Altar of Pergamon, on display in the Pergamon museum in Berlin, Germany. Still in its original site, is the base of the altar, believed to have been dedicated to Zeus, and the "Satan's Throne" as referred by John of Patmos in his Book of Revelation.
You will once again walk through the ages at this site; visiting the Acropolis and the Asklepion, which indeed has been an inspiration, as well as a prototype for the modern healthcare center of our day.
Dinner and overnight in one of the best hotels in modern Pergamum.
Day 2: Pergamum, Ephesus and Pamukkale.
The second day of your tour will start with a drive, via the Aegean city of Izmir, to Selcuk area. You will then visit the ancient city of Ephesus, the Roman capital of Asia Minor. Your tour will include the Odeon, the Marble Street, the Hadrian Temple, the Celcius Library and the Great Theatre. You may opt for lunch in a local restaurant, before paying a pilgrimage visit to the House of Virgin Mary. This Christian and Muslim shrine is located in the vicinity of Ephesus; and it is believed by many that Virgin Mary, was taken to this stone house by Saint John and lived there.
After a drive to Pamukkale town, you may wash the fatigue of the day (actually, the millenia) away, by taking a quick swim in a thermal bath before dinner .

After the visit, you will relax in Çanakkale, a pleasant small town with exceptional fish restaurants.
DAY 2: TROY > PERGAMUM > IZMIR
On the second day, you will follow the route taken by those who have escaped the fall of Troy, to the city of Pergamum. You will visit the Acropolis and the Asklepion, which indeed has been an inspiration, as well as a prototype for the modern healthcare center of our day.
After the Pergamum visit, you will be driven to Izmir (this trip takes about an hour). You will have a tour of interesting sights that this unique city offers. Our recommendation is the panoramic view of the city from the Kadifekale (The Velvet Castle); and a large glass of “Efes” Beer, which is best enjoyed at a sea side café on the “Kordon”, at sunset. Izmir too, is famous for its exceptional fish restaurants.
