The tradition of the Turkish shave dates far back, the Turkish Barber is not only just a place to have a shave or hair cut but also a social area. Going to the barber's shop is a ritual in Turkish culture. It is no wonder why most Turkish men have a local barber in their neighborhood whom they are devotedly loyal to. The barber shop is a place to hear the latest gossip in town, to dispute the latest word affairs, to read the daily newspaper and to relax, chat and have coffee or tea, whilst being treated one of the most exclusive in the world of hairdressing.
The tour starts with a walk through the Istiklal Street and then have a visit to a classic barber's shop located in the Galatasaray district. The Turkish barbers use a sharp open blade called "ustura" with the utmost skill, which leaves the skin soft and radiant after a close shave. The application of a rich traditonal moisturiser with hot towel precedes and follows the shave.
Then your barber treats you to a head massage with lotion, before you leave shop as soft and happy as a baby!
