This half day tour will show you the former residence of Zhou Enlai, the Chinese Prime Minister in the 1960s and 70s. Many people think of him as one of China´s greatest twentieth century leaders. His home was also the representative office of the Communist Party of China from 1946 to 1947. We will also see the former residence of Mao Zedong. This old home in the Shukumen (stone-gated) style is where China’s great leader lived in 1924. Learn more about Dr. Sun Yat-sen (also named Sun Wen), the great forerunner of the Chinese democratic revolution. This founder of the Republic of China is also a respected contributor to China´s modern history. We will also see the birth place of the Communist Party of China which lies just next to Shanghai Xintiandi. This fashionable pedestrian area is where "yesterday meets tomorrow" in modern Shanghai.
At the beginning of World War II, about 30,000 Jews fled Europe, settling in Shanghai. Calling themselves "Shanghailanders" the majority most settled in the neighborhood of the Hongkou District. Visit Ohel Moishe Synagogue which served as the spiritual heart of this Jewish community, and which currently houses the Museum for Jewish Refugees. We will also visit Huoshan Park, a peaceful place where the Monument in Memory of Jewish Refugees now stands. The ancient, well-protected village of Wuzhen lies north of Zhejiang province, only about 3 hours from Shanghai. Suzhou is located near the eastern shore of Lake Taihu where the Grand Canal joins the Yangtze River. Since the time of the Song Dynasty (960-1279), Suzhou has been an important center for China’s silk industry and continues to hold that prominent position today. The city is renowned for its stone bridges, pagodas, and meticulously designed gardens which have contributed to its status as a great tourist attraction. You will head to the Tiger Hill, Master of Nets Garden (one of the finest gardens in China), the Silk Factory, the Old City Gate and the Suzhou Museum designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Chinese-American architect Leoh Ming Pei.

Donghai Bridge, sometimes called East Sea Grand Bridge, is the first sea-crossing bridge in the China. It was the longest cross-sea bridge in the world until Hangzhou Bay Bridge opened on 1 May 2008. This 20-mile, six-lane bridge was opened for the public in Dec, 2005. Stretching across the East China Sea, the graceful cable-stay structure connects Shanghai to Yangshan Island, set to become China's first free-trade port (and the world's largest container port).
Dishui Lake is a landmark project in the main urban area of Shanghai Lingang New City. The main urban area is the urban comprehensive life service area with 5.6 km² Dishui Lake as its center. And Dishui Lake is the existing largest artificial freshwater lake in China.
The main structure of the China Pavilion, "The Crown of the East," has a distinctive roof, made of traditional Dougong or brackets, which date back more than 2,000 years. This unique structural component of interlocking wooden brackets is one of the most important elements in traditional Chinese architecture. Dougong was widely used in the Spring and Autumn Period (770 BC-467 BC).
The Saudi Arabia Pavilion features a fine centerpiece: a huge hanging boat shaped like a half moon. The ""moon boat"" is loaded with dreams and friendship. Date palms have been planted on the top deck of the boat, creating a hanging garden, and thus epitomizing the oases in the desert. Visitors will receive a warm welcome in both modern as well as traditional Bedouin tents set among date palm trees.
Hudec was born in a Slovak family in Banská Bystrica in 1893, in the then Austro-Hungarian monarchy. He studied architecture in Budapest and after graduation enrolled for military service.
The onset of World War One dragged him away to Russia where he was taken prisoner. He managed to escape to Shanghai. Here he quickly proved his abilities and started to build his career as an architect.
During the inter-war period he designed more than 60 buildings in Shanghai, about half of which are preserved to this day. Most of them are now cultural monuments.
One of the most acknowledged is Park Hotel that was completed in 1934. This was the first high-rise in the Far East and it kept this title for dozens of years.

Xitang is an ancient water town which has kept its original look from the past. One of the distinct features of this town is its large number of covered corridors. Explore the attractions of this Watertown. The contemporary wood carvings exhibited at the Root Carving Art Hall reflect the skill of root carving. Xitang plays an important role in the button industry and very appropriately the Button Museum of China can be found in here.
