Suzhou is located near the eastern shore of Lake Taihu where the Grand Canal joins the Yangtze River. Since the time of the Song Dynasty (960-1279), Suzhou has been an important center for China’s silk industry and continues to hold that prominent position today. The city is renowned for its stone bridges, pagodas, and meticulously designed gardens which have contributed to its status as a great tourist attraction. You will head to the Tiger Hill, Master of Nets Garden (one of the finest gardens in China), the Silk Factory, the Old City Gate and the Suzhou Museum designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Chinese-American architect Leoh Ming Pei.
