Norrmalm. Also known as the City Centre. Great shopping opportunities and the focal point of modern Stockholm. In the back drop see the City Hall, venue for the Nobel Prize Banquet. Why is the Blue Hall not blue? How tall is the tower? How many bricks was used to put the building together? This is one fascinating building!
Östermalm. The city’s most fashionable neighbourhood with stately apartment buildings, fantastic architecture and scenic walkways.
Djurga°rden. Better known as the outdoor recreation centre for the city locals. The island is also home to many of the city’s museums including the Vasa Museum. SoFo (South of Folkungatan) is a play on the acronym SoHo, one of the coolest districts in the world according Vogue. Today it is known as the trendiest area in Stockholm.
Starting from the beginning, Södermalm is where we placed people when we ran out of space in the Old Town. It holds a lot of great, but horrific history, beautiful views and as if that weren’t enough, it is also the home of Lisbeth Salander & Mikael Blomqvist, where the now world famous Millennium trilogy all started.
Before we take you to SoFo, we will journey through history, witch trails, executions, the life of the working class, all leading us up to today’s Latte Mums’s & Sourdough Dad’s.
What is a Must See in Stockholm? In our opinion the city is filled with must see places, but to make it easier for you we have narrowed it down to three main sites, the Old Town, the island of Djurgården and the Vasa Museum.
Our adventure begins at Stortorget, the main square, of the Old Town. This is where Stockholm was once founded. Here we will listen to stories and legends about the city and the people that used to lived here. On our walk we will also pass some of the most known sights of the area, e.g. the Royal Palace, the Coronation Church and St George and the Dragon.
The walk of the Old Town ends by the Djurgården Ferry which will take us across to the island of Djurgården. The ferry ride only takes between 7 to 10 minutes but allows us to see parts of Stockholm from the waterside.
Arriving on the island of Djurgården we will continue our walk through a beautiful neighbourhood that many people miss when visiting ‘Stockholm’s recreational area’. The walk takes us to the Vasa Museum; the world’s most visited maritime museum! This soon-to-be 400 year old wooden ship stands before almost 100% intact despite being under water for 333 years. 98% are original parts! We will give you a 30-minute guided tour of the museum and thereafter our time together has come to an end, but you can stay on and explore the ship and the museum.
To find your way back into town you can walk, take the tram or catch the Djurgården ferry back to the Old Town.
There is a lot more to Stockholm than medieval history, water and bridges. Today the city is marketed not only for being the capital of Sweden - but as the capital of Scandinavia as well.
It’s a bold statement. We are not saying it is true; rather, we consider what lends strength to making such a declaration in our city’s honor and the thinking behind it.
Walking through the main city center we will stumble across sights that will give us the opportunity to, in a very lighthearted way, touch upon subjects to do with everything from the mix of people that live here, to business, innovation, shopping, culture and design, nightlife to the environment.
On our Modern Stockholm walk, we will have the chance to see The Concert Hall - where the Nobel Prizes are handed out, Stureplan - where the exclusive shopping and nightlife of Stockholm are to be found, Norrmalmstorg - where the event that coined the phrase ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ took place and Kungsträdgården - one of many green parks in the city and the focal point for numerous events that take place in the city today. All of that and more will be passed along the way.
A walk through the old town offers history, declaration of Swedish culture and traditions, as well as beautiful architecture, everything in the very special atmosphere of Stockholm's Old Town.
In 1.5 hours one learns good stuff; for example, how many rooms the royal palace has what the statue of St. George is, and the dragon actually for Sweden is why the Old Town today is greater than ever before, which the narrowest street in Stockholm is, and what the Swedes have done with their beer.
In summer, the leadership continues to the island of Riddarholmen, for stunning views of Lake Mälaren, and a lake on the city itself.
In short, with our stories, legends and with humour, we bring the old town to life for you.
This guide combines for the two most important and popular attractions of Stockholm! An added bonus: you do not queue up at the Vasa Museum ...!
Our walk through the old town will reveal how and why the Nobel Prize was created, where the Swedish royal family actually lives, as we used our waste plied how close the narrowest street in Stockholm is, how many people still live in the old town, how high the acquisition (!), and much more.
From the old town it then continues via ferry to the island of Djurgården. Discover with us Stockholm from the water and find out why Stockholm is called the Venice of the North.
Our visit to the Vasa Museum will bring you certainly amazed. The old ship is quite a stunning experience! How can a ship that spent 333 years on the seabed still be so well preserved? How many people died when it went down, especially; why it went down so quickly and who was to blame for it? And as it came into the house, where do we stand? All this and every other question, we will answer you during our tour of the museum. If we are here finally finished with the tour, you are welcome to stay in the museum, to look at the exhibitions and accurately see the film about the Vasa, or simply revel in the atmosphere.
