Las mujeres locales tejen y visten lo que se conoce como huipiles: elegantes túnicas bordadas con coloridas representaciones de pájaros y flores. Aquí las ceremonias antiguas conviven lado a lado con el catolicismo maya.

Después seguiremos para explorar Panajachel, donde también podrás disfrutar de una pausa para el almuerzo. Esta ciudad precolombina fue testigo de la última batalla entre españoles y sus aliados contra el Kakchiquel Tzujiles local. Los misioneros franciscanos que abundaban en la época también dejaron su huella en esta región mediante la construcción de un convento cercano. Al final del viaje, te llevaremos cómodamente a tu hotel. Cobblestone streets wind through the city of majestic churches and monasteries. Begin your 3 and a half hour of a soft walking tour of Antigua. You’ll visit Central Park, Cathedral of San Jose, Arch of Santa Catalina and La Merced Church.

Central Park is located at the heart of the city, surrounded by the traditional grid pattern frequently utilized in Spanish urban planning in the colonies. The park is surrounded by the Palace of the Generals Captain , City Hall, the church of San José (formerly the Cathedral of Guatemala), the Archbishop’s Palace and the Portal of Commerce (or the Bakers’ Portal). Here, visitors will also find the Mermaid´s Fountain. The Count of Gomera (Gomera is the word for a rubber plantation) built the fountain in remembrance of a popular legend, which tells the story of a King whose daughters gave birth but did not want to nurse their children. Learn about this famous story as you immerse yourself in the colonial history of the city.

Next, you will explore the Cathedral which was constructed between 1543 and 1680 with an elaborate baroque façade in mortar, typical of antique churches. The Cathedral has smooth columns, a body and a belfry that was rebuilt after the Santa Marta earthquake in 1773. You then proceed to the Arch of Santa Catalina. This institution was established in 1609, and the nuns in this temple and convent were cloistered. The temple was inaugurated on the 15th of September, 1647. In 1694, construction of the arch was finished and it served as a bridge to connect the convent with the gardens on the other side of the street.

It is the third largest theme park in Latin America. There you will find a scale replica of the original colours of the Great Jaguar Temple located in Tikal. The themepark showcases many styles of architecture that range from traditional, colonial, and neo-classical.

The park features architectural reproductions of many landmarks from across the world, including the Trevi Fountain, Moulin Rouge, and the Tikal Temple of the Great Jaguar. The park Xocomil takes its name from the Tz’utujil and K’aqchikel voice that translates as "strong wind blowing over the water", actually a phenomenon observed every day around 5 p.m. in the Lake Atitlan. We will be moving to archeological site "Iximche", a city of the post classical period where you can visit the pyramids in honor of moon and sun, one of the oldest and most important cities of the Maya.

Iximche is a Pre-Columbian Mesoamerican archaeological site in the western highlands of Guatemala. Iximche was the capital of the Late Postclassic Kaqchikel Maya kingdom from 1470 until its abandonment in 1524. The architecture of the site included a number of pyramid-temples, palaces and two Mesoamerican ballcourts.

Una vez en el mercado de Chichicastenango, comenzaremos un recorrido a pie hasta el centro de la vida comercial de los maxeños (indígenas de Chichicastenango). Los comerciantes acuden a la plaza todos los jueves y domingos para veder sus productos. Este mercado apenas ha cambiado con el tiempo y aún conserva todo su encanto tradicional. Aquí también visitaremos la iglesia de Santo Tomás, un gran ejemplo de arquitectura colonial construido en 1540 sobre la base de un templo prehispánico.

Después del almuerzo, continuaremos hasta el pueblo de Panajachel, a orillas del lago de Atitlán, desde donde nos dirigiremos hacia la calle Santander para obtener una de las mejores vistas del lago y los volcanes circundantes: Tolimán, Atitlán y San Pedro. Estos forman el marco natural del lago, que tiene una superficie de 125 kilómetros cuadrados y se encuentra a 1.560 metros sobre el nivel del mar. Con todo, éste será un día para disfrutar de la belleza de la naturaleza y la vida tradicional guatemalteca.

Explora las calles empedradas que serpentean alrededor de las majestuosas iglesias y monasterios de la ciudad. Este recorrido también te invita a visitar las aldeas que rodean Antigua, como la Ciudad Vieja, San Felipe de Jesús, con su iglesia gótica de fama mundial, y San Antonio Aguas Calientes conocida por sus coloridas manufacturas artesanales.

La excursión de Antigua tiene una duración de tres horas y media. Empezaremos visitando el Parque Central, rodeado por el Palacio de los Capitanes Generales, el Ayuntamiento, la iglesia de San José y más. Aquí podrás ver la famosa fuente de la sirena, construida por el Conde de la Gomera. Continuaremos hacia la Catedral de San José, construida entre los siglos XVI y XVII con un elaborado estilo barroco. El siguiente punto será el Arco de Santa Catalina, que data de 1609, cuando se completó el arco que conecta el convento con los jardines al otro lado de la calle.
