From Cuenca we moved to the Cajas National Park to the area Horse Shayana where we say goodbye to our driver. The walk began in the Laguna de Cucheros (height 3950 m) Our naturalist guide will accompany us throughout the tour, which begins with an uphill walk for 40 minutes until knife / blade (height 4080 m) from where we observe the valley Burin (height 4010 m) where several gaps as large Burin Burin boy Ingañan among others; where we dive into the Andean grassland while admiring the natural beauty especially the panoramic view of the sector and the canyon floor where the slope that will feed the Llaviucu Mamamag and lagoons.

The route leads us to the Laguna Mamamag (3.500 m) combining the same walk among streams and a small forest of polilepys and vestiges of pre-Columbian cultures in the Royal Inca Trail. Short stop for a box lunch.

The trail leads to an important vantage point from which we observe the spectacular valley of Llaviucu continue the journey through the forest of San Antonio began the descent to the forest Llaviucu, where the scenery changes dramatically from grassland to upper montane forest.

Finally, we arrive at Llaviuco (height 3100 m) where you can download the backpacks in the transport and do a little birding tour. Llaviuco is considered the best place in the National Park for bird watching. This upper montane forest is in excellent condition, making it easy to find very striking species as the Andean Toucan Pechigris (Andigena hypoglauca), the Andean Guan (Penelope montagnii) Masked Trogon (masked trogon), the Magpie Turquoise (Cyanolyca turcosa) and several species of colorful tanagers and some waterfowl. The twelve hummingbird species recorded in the area are a sample of the high diversity reaching this group of birds in the montane ecosystems, and between Frentiestrella Rainbow Hummingbird (Coeligena irie), the Rayito Bright (Anglaeactis cupripennis) and stands Pico Espada.
