Información

In this private tour, we will take a stroll through Sintra, Queluz and Cascais. We begin by visiting the beautiful halls and gardens of the National Palace of Queluz. The main building of this magnificent palace, so often compared to the Palace of Versailles, was completed in 1760 and was hence the residence chosen for the summer resort of the Royal Family.

We continued to Sintra, Lord Byron referred to this place as "glorious Eden" attracting writers and famous artists who later spread their charms around the world. It was also one of the favorite places of the Royal Family to retire in the summer, encouraging the aristocracy to build palaces, plots and farms dotted around the landscape, making this a place of excellence.

Sintra is one of the most beautiful places in Portugal to walk with the family. Here among many other places we will visit the Palace of the Village and ascend to the Palace of Pena which is one of the most emblematic places to visit and constitutes the most complete and remarkable example of the Portuguese architecture of Romanticism.

Then we go to Cabo da Roca, it is the most western point of the European Continent, and in the place a stone standard indicates this particularity. The place is of great tourist affluence and of easy accesses, being therefore many people that visit it, and there is in the place a lighthouse, a restaurant and a tourist shop.

Cascais is a picturesque fishing village that began to be famous when at the end of the sec. XIX became fashionable in Europe to go to the beach, much because of King D. Luís who seduced by the mild climate and the beauty of its bay decided to settle in the Palace of the Citadel during the summer season. Cascais thus became the most aristocratic beach of Portugal being soon elevated to the status of Court Beach, thus becoming an important summer resort.

At the beginning of sec. XX the aristocracy and the high bourgeoisie settled in the Coast of Estoril. With its palaces on the sea, always inhabited, the summer architecture of the elites, its calm waters and fine sands, and due to its Mediterranean climate is known as the Portuguese Riviera.
