Access off the beaten track location and discover the essence of Pico Island, the Azores’ second largest island. This small volcanic island reflects a unique response to viniculture, and has been evolving ever since the arrival of settlers during the 15th century. The extraordinarily beautiful man-made landscape of small, stone walled fields is testimony to generations of small-scale farmers who, in a hostile environment, created a sustainable living and much-prized wine.
Whether you choose the half day or full day option, you get to see the Wine Museum and the protected landscape of the Pico vineyards. What’s more, we see the natural caves, the Whaler’s Museum and much more. The full day option includes a lunch in a typical local restaurant.
