See hidden corners of Terceira Island with a 4x4 tour that takes you off the beaten track.
HIGHLIGHTS:
* Learn about the island’s wine production
* Traverse over volcanic landscapes
* Includes a typical lunch
* Enjoy the views over Serra do Cume
Along the coast, through natural parks and over volcanic landscapes, we discover the essence of Terceira Island and its long-kept secrets. We stop at the village of Biscoitos along with its protected landscape of vineyards, where grapes have been growing on rock walls for more than 400 years. Visit the Wine Museum for a chance to taste and buy the island’s produce.
At lunchtime we take you to enjoy a traditional dish named Alcatra. Cooked for around 12 hours, this typical rump dish is known for its intense flavour, and is a delight to eat. We continue to the fumarole field of Furnas do Enxofre, at the geographical heart of the island. Experience the volcanic origins of Terceira Island with its warm atmosphere and characteristic smell of Sulphur, where you can take the opportunity to visit Algar do Carvão.
We end the tour with magnificent views over both sides of the Serra do Cume; where vibrant green patchwork fields unfold before you. A day in nature at its best, discover the essence of Terceira Island.
