Step back in time through glories gone by with a tour to Potsdam – the Versailles of Germany.
HIGHLIGHTS:
* Walk through a Unesco World Heritage Site
* Learn of momentous events that saw Potsdam at the centre of the action
* Indulge in the beauty of Potsdam’s palaces
In this city we can learn all about the fascinating story of Frederick II, otherwise known as Frederick “the Great.” This ruler was a passionate lover of the arts and culture, and thus he made great efforts to beautify the city of Potsdam with manifold palaces and gardens, some of which seem to belong among the pages of a fairy tale.
Potsdam’s more recent history is also a matter of interest: on this tour we invite you to cross the bridge where the CIA and KGB spies used to exchange confidential information during the Cold War. We will also pass by the palace where Stalin himself met with Winston Churchill and Harry S. Truman in order to divide Germany, an event that would bring danger and drama to the lives of many.
Delve deep into the Dutch Quarter and explore the marvellous Sanssouci, as well as a handful of other breathtaking palaces. All of these regal constructions were residences of the Hohenzollern dynasty in days long gone. This trip invites you to indulge in a leisurely walk, the best way to spend a day outdoors while discovering a bit more of Germany’s astounding culture, history and traditions.
