Complete your trip to Florence and discover the closely guarded Vasari Corridor. Set above the streets of Florence, you’ll be treated to privileged views over the Ponte Vecchio and surroundings, just as the Grand Duke desired.

HIGHLIGHTS:

* Walk in the steps of Florence’s ruling family
* See a first class art collection not available in any other museum in the world
* Admire one of the most magnificent examples of 16th century architecture
* Take a peek on to the Ponte Vecchio below you

The Vasari Corridor is an intriguing restricted location in Florence that is only available by appointment and to guided tours. With this tour you get direct access to a thrilling experience through a mysterious and lesser known part of this beautiful city. Its doors will be opened to you and as you take you first few steps through this 1km long passageway, you’ll be struck by its silence away from the crowds.

The corridor was constructed in record time over five months in 1564 on request of the Grand Duke Cosimo I de' Medici. Designed by Giorgio Vasari, it served the purpose of giving the ruling family of Florence a safe passage between the seat of government and their home.

Today visitors can glance through its small windows on to the Ponte Vecchio, the Arno River and beyond, as well as admire the superb art collection that decorates its walls. Over 1,000 paintings from the 16th and 18th century are revealed to you as you step along the corridor. Self-portraits dating from the 20th century, combined with the peaceful atmosphere create a sense of exclusivity in the heart of Florence.
