Our tour begins with the Monastery of St. Peter and Paul, situated 5 km south of Trebinje towards Dubrovnik, and is a beautifully built and decorated monastery, a holy place consecrated to the Holy Apostles of Peter and Paul. According to historians and archaeologists, these two temples date back to the Middle Ages.
Then, we shall take a tour of Trebinje and the city’s marketplace. An essential heritage site is the Tvrdoš Monastery situated 5 km southwest of Trebinje towards Mostar and which is dedicated to Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos. The Monastery church was built in the IV century while, today, its foundations are preserved in the church. A
visit is then scheduled to the new wine cellars built in the traditional way with Herzegovian stone as well as to the old wine cellars built during the XVI century and preserved to present day. Choice wine tasting is also organised in the Monastery cellars. The Monastery of Herzegovacka Gracanica, our final tour visit, is situated on the hill Crkvina overlooking Trebinje. The Monastery was built as a replica of the Gracanica Monastery in Kosovo, also known by the fact that the famous Serbian poet and diplomat Jovan Ducic (of Trebinje descent) was buried there.
