Travesía por el río Arade

Enjoy a relaxing cruise upon the River Arade. This gently flowing river runs through the scenic countryside of the interior of the Algarve and makes its way to the sea at the town of Portimão.

The river runs through the fascinating town of Silves which was once the ancient Moorish capital of the Algarve and whose skyline is dominated by the impressive castle which dates from that period. This historical river route was plied by the Romans and subsequent settlers in the area. The Arade finally meets the sea at Portimão - in ancient times and still today an important commercial port.

As you cruise along the river you can enjoy the lush scenery, the many orange and lemon groves, the soothing sound of birdsong, the river wildlife and the hypnotic lapping of the water against the boat. Breathe the pure air, rich with the scents of the nature, allowing your thoughts to wander at will.

The river cruise leaves from the harbour of Portimão, and we travel upriver to the historical town of Silves. Here you will have about 1 hour to explore the town, to visit some of the most interesting locals of this fascinating town.

Meeting/pick-up point: Pick-up at the hotel or at Cais Vasco da Gama, Portimão, depending on the chosen modality.
