At the medieval city wall, Karlstor, we begin our tour through Munich’s history and buildings. Your knowledgeable guide will regale you with the city’s history from its origins to the 20th century as we head from stop to stop. We pass St Michael’s Church, where the ‘Mad King’s’ remains are kept, to the emblematic Marienplatz: the beating heart of Munich in the centre of the Altstadt. Admire the New Town Hall, with its neo-gothic architecture and famous clock chime, the emblematic Frauenkirche dominating the skyline as well as the Feldherrnhalle, Bürgersaalkirche and the amazing Royal Residence; royal palace of Bavarian monarchs. We also discover Munich’s oldest church, St Peter’s, exploring the historic centre and the city’s hidden nooks and crannies. For all the others the meeting point will be the Karlstor gate situated in Karlsplatz, Stachus. The guide will be dressed in green clothes.
