With other 20 historic churches, several palaces and delightful bridges across the River Arno, you will not be stuck for things to see and explore! Admire the breathtaking Piazza del Duomo, also known as the Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles) located just towards the North of the old town center. It is a UNESCO World Heritage and rightly so, as it truly is spectacular, housing a group of monuments famously known all over the world including the four masterpieces of medieval architecture – the cathedral, the baptistery, the campanile (the commonly known leaning tower of Pisa) and the cemetery. This collection of iconic monuments held a great influence on monumental art in Italy between the 11th and 14th Century. Other buildings we will explore which are inside the medieval complex include the surrounding palaces and a hospital.
