When they were handing out scenery, Montenegro drew the card marked ‘wild'. It's full of dramatic mountains, canyons and deep forests. And on this trip, you'll witness them for yourself. You'll start with a drive up into the mountains, giving you panoramic views over the coast below. Then, after passing the capital, Podgorica, you'll head for the Moraca River. This 70-mile river cuts through a rugged canyon and we'll take the road through it - have your cameras ready. Along the way, you'll stop at the Moraca Monastery on the riverbanks. Admire the luminous frescoes inside its 12th century church before continuing through the mountains to the Tara canyon. All pine forests and craggy walls plunging into the rushing Tara River, this colossal canyon is the second deepest in the world and part of the beautiful Durmitor National Park. After lunch at a restaurant, you'll carry on to one of its highpoints, the Djurdjevica Tara bridge. This towering bridge spans the gorge in five arches and makes a breathtaking vantage point. Snap photos of the views and spend some time exploring before your journey back.
