Simply unparalleled in terms of architectural splendour as well as the incredible Renaissance art it houses, the gallery was constructed under the capable direction of the founder of art history, Georgio Vasari, who also reported in his book ‘Lives of the Artists’ that Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo would regularly visit the gallery for inspiration.
