Climb up into the cooling Monchique hills for an evening adventure into the Algarve’s very own mountain range.

Suspended high above the coast lie the wooded Monchique hills, an area that exudes Portuguese beauty and tradition. We travel high up into the hills in small groups, passing by sweet-smelling orange and lemon orchards nestled in amongst the rolling valleys.

We make plenty of stops to take a break and enjoy the views along the way with ample opportunities for those perfect holiday snaps. When we reach Alferce, we visit the historic, cobble-stoned village before continuing on to the lush peaks of Barrancos dos Pisoes. Explore the natural wilderness until it’s time for us to settle down to catch the sunset from a special view point.

Sip on a flute of sparkling wine as you admire the sky turning from blue to soft pinks, reds and purples as darkness blankets the landscape. As night falls, hop back into the 4x4 to make our way to a local restaurant. Here you’ll be served a tasty Portuguese meal to round off our magical evening in the Monchique hills.

Meeting/pick-up point: Pick up from hotels located between Quarteira and Burgau from 3:15pm onwards.
