Departing from the hotel towards Rabil, the former capital of the county, you can admire the ancient Church of S. Roque, the oldest on the island, built in 1801. The village of Rabil seems to be divided between two parts: a past that seemed to have present and present seems to have a future. Here you will visit the factory-school of ceramics (pottery) which seeks to preserve the known parts of nature, which uses methods of making distinctly African roots.
After the visit to Rabil, you move towards the “Deserto de Viana”, a miniature Sahara, with its small Oasis. Solitary palms, dunes formed with the sand that the wind brings harmatão of Africa. The jeep safari continues towards “Povoação Velha” (Old Village) the 1st village of the island established in 1620, when a group of Englishmen began extracting salt which contributed significantly to an improvement in the economy of the island.
The tour could not be completed without visiting its famous beach of Santa Monica; a long sandy namesake of California, with its 18 km long white sand, Santa Monica beach in a single adjective would be AMAZING.
