The Tijuca forest is 3972 hectares in size and is one of the largest urban forests in the world. Located on the edge of the Tijuca national park and within the city of Rio de Janeiro, it is announced as world heritage site by Unesco and has historical and ecotourism attractions known worldwide.
We will do our abseil on Tijuca forest summit of the second highest mountain in the area of Tijuca national park, the parrot's beak, which has 989m altitude. Our rappelling will be vertical, with nearly 20 meters and with the immensity of Tijuca forest right behind us.
The view is stunning! The tour starts at the park entrance gate and includes trails through the forest to museum, Cachoeira das Almas and the trail to the parrot's beak, which starts very quiet and so on, until the base of the mountain where we find a more uphill rugged and steep. From the summit you can enjoy the dominant peaks of Tijuca national park and Tijuca peak, cockaigne, earl stone, of Pedra da Gávea and Pedra Bonita, in addition to Sumaré and the tip of the Corcovado. The abseil in the Tijuca forest has estimated time of 8 hours and all safety equipment are included in the tour as well as insurance.
