You better make sure your children have eaten all their spinach before this day trip. As you pull up to the rustic wooden buildings overlooking Anchor Bay, you might think this village looks familiar. That’s because it’s the film set from the 1980s musical, Popeye, starring the late, great Robin Williams. You’ll have the day to explore the village, which took construction workers seven months to build. But, even if your little ones aren’t quite old enough to remember the Sailor Man himself, they can still enjoy shows, rides, mini golf, pools and playhouses. You’ll also find Popeye and his famous friends, including Olive Oyl, Bluto and Wimpy, wandering the set. Once you’ve explored the village, you can take a 20-minute boat trip around the bay. Alternatively, head for the cliffs, where you’ll find panoramic views along Malta’s west coast.
