See and taste Tuscany on this full day tour from Florence to the medieval town of San Gimignano, Siena and Monteriggioni castle. Discover the best of the Chianti region and savour its delicious local food and wine, and by the end of the tour you’ll have visited some of Tuscany’s most compelling places envied by all tourists.
Our first stop is San Gimignano, a picturesque medieval hilltop town now a Unesco world heritage site. Here you have two hours to roam the streets, squares, 15 towers, alleyways and discover the historic charm inside the town’s walls. Next we head on to the Chianti Classico region – the oldest and most genuine area. We continue to a typical Tuscan winery where you will visit the cellars and vineyards. Taste the wine produced here complemented by a delicious typical lunch consisting of Tuscan pasta, cold meats, bruschetta, cheeses and typical pastries (vegetarian menu available upon request). After lunch we head on to Siena, a city nestled amongst three hills, for a guided tour of the city centre. Admire the Gothic cathedral, town hall and Piazza del Campo, the location of the world renowned Palio horse race and we end the tour at the dramatic hilltop medieval fortress of Monteriggioni and the Chianti region before returning to Florence.
Meeting/pick-up point: Inside Santa Maria Novella train station, in front of the pharmacy.
Start/opening time: At 8.45am. Please arrive 15 minutes prior.
End/closing time: At approximately 7.45pm.
Others: Includes a free Florence walking tour which is to be taken the day after the tour to Siena and San Gimignano. Tour starts at 11am from Via Cavour 21, Florence and ends at 12.30pm. Please also arrive 15 minutes prior to the tour start time.
