This tour takes you first to the marvelous Soko City.Built on the bedrock beneath the stone cliffs overlooking the fertile valley of Konavle, since Illyrian times Sokol city proudly stands as a silent witness defying the turbulent centuries .This fortress had two roles throughout history : to defend the established order and to rule the region as well. After the great earthquake in the end of 17.c. Dubrovnik Republic leaves Soko city. After almost 350 years it has risen in its full beauty after thorough reconstruction.
Our next stop is village Brajkovic where you will have the chance to see true hinterland atmosphere, wine cellars and taste some of the best Konavle wines. We then continue to Cavtat - the ancient Epidaurus that was an important Roman colony in this region, which expires after the breakthrough of the Slavs and the Avarians into this area after the decline of the Western Roman Empire, and their inhabitants flee to the neighbouring settlement Laus-Rave-Ragus, where from Dubrovnik arose. In historical sources, Cavtat is also mentioned with the name Ragusa Vecchia, what clearly testifies to the connection of these two cities.
A legend says that Cavtat derives from the Old-Croatian verb 'captiti' - 'to blossom', referring to the yellow juniper, and a widespread sparkling plant with a sunny aura. This charming city is just the right place to use your free time and simply relax.
