Raggy Charters has been running marine eco cruises in Algoa Bay for the last 20 years. We launched Algoa Bay as the Bottlenose Dolphin Capital of the World in 2016. We have a 95% chance of seeing dolphins on the cruises and a fair chance of seeing whales from June until December. There are 22 000 African Penguins on St Croix Island making it the largest breeding colony in the world. Throughout the year there is also a chance to see penguins, Cape gannets and terns feeding on bait fish. Seals and other dolphin species are also sometimes seen.
We cruise on open motorized catamarans that are designed for conditions in the bay. Lunch is available and at your own cost. Most of the money generated from the tour goes towards marine education, penguin and cetacean research, anti-marine pollution campaigns and the rehabilitation of threatened wetlands in order to offset our carbon footprint.
