Finally, after years of waiting for restorations to be finished, we are giving you an opportunity to visit Colosseum underground. We will enter the monuments gate Porta Libitinaria, also restored in the course of these interventions.

The descent into the underground rooms will allow you to experience the key of the visit, seen in these underground spaces, where the alacrity of activities took place, which allowed preparations for the gladiatorial games. Here, the slaves who were moving through these steps, moved to fulfil their service without viewers noticing anything and without hindering the shows. In there, they brought the beasts captured in the most remote corners of the Empire. Also, the gladiators stood there, prepared to fight before getting into the arena.

These underground rooms tell us much of the “behind the scenes” of the glorious days of the Colosseum. With a guided tour from the underground we will go to the apex of the monument, the area recently restored and reopened, exclusively for those who come to the underground area known as ""the third ring"". Tour also includes a regular visit to Arena level.
