The colonies of Mergulhao e Muricy are located 28km from Curitiba, in the city of São Jose dos Pinhais. European immigrants settled here in the end of nineteenth century and began to cultivate little rural properties. The Italians settled in Mergulhao, and the polish in Muricy.
In 2004 the local community founded the association called Caminho do vinho in order to attract more visitors and turn the place into an alternative source of income.
The wine is locally produced; it’s simple and has some traditional techniques, like the ones used by the immigrants.
Nowadays people, especially from Curitiba, go to the association to spend a pleasant day and buy colonial wines, cheese, salami, fruits and vegetables, and to taste with relish a delicious colonial coffee in the evening. There, you’ll taste savory and sweet food, teas, coffees and juices. Besides, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the local handicraft shop.
