The story of Turkish coffee begins in Egypt, from where the Ottomans brought the first coffee beans to Istanbul in 1519. The first coffee shops were opened some 30 years later in the district of Eminonu. There were prohibition decrees by some sultans but they failed to prevent coffee from becoming the national drink. This tour begins with a Turkish coffee making course, where you will be presented with certificate at the end. Afterwards, we’ll continue with a historical Coffee Route, which will take in some coffee breaks at historical venues where you can sample some Turkish delight. Marvel at the narrow streets, historical walkways, intriguing old bazaars, Ottoman coffee warehouses and more. Your guide will ensure that the past comes alive, making the commentary one of the highlights of the day.
