A refined city of art enclosed in Renaissance-style city walls, Lucca offers a rich and fulfilling sightseeing experience: aristocratic palaces, narrow roads and tower-houses are just a few of its features. Start the tour with a walk along part of the city walls for views over the terracotta rooftops, and then move into the historical centre to get up close to history.
Explore the beating heart of the city, Piazza S. Michele, dominated by the splendid white limestone Basilica and Palazzo Pretorio. Wander through the winding streets to Piazza Mercato and on to the famous Gothic Cathedral of San Martino and Torre Guinigi. After a short journey we arrive at the seaside town of Forte dei Marmi, home to celebrities and stars who come for the sandy beaches and alpine scenery. Enjoy some free time to discover the old town, shops and waterfront, or during summer take a dip in the ocean.
In the afternoon we head to Pisa, Unesco World Heritate Site where peerless masterpieces in marble rise from the green lawn. The glittering Piazza dei Miracoli, home to the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, Cathedral, Monumental Graveyard and Baptistery which are waiting to be discovered.
