The archaeological site of Soledad de Maciel takes its name from its proximity to the town of the same name, located in the town of Petatlán. Regarding the name "Xihuacan" among the objects presented in the museum stands a stone carved with the glyph Xihuacan toponym, giving the area its name , found during recent excavations in the area of the Ballgame . The glyph is circular and reveals the name that this place was known in ancient times. Xihuacan is a Nahuatl word meaning "place of the holders of Turquoise" and refers to a metaphor to refer to those "who have the time" or "that control the calendar".
