The castle was built in 1348 by the order of Charles IV, King of Bohemia, Holy Roman Emperor.
Charles intended to use Karlsteijn as a storage location for the Crown jewels, holy relics and the treasury. Nowadays, Karlsteijn is a popular destination and often used as movie set. Although close to Prague’s city borders, the castle lies in the middle of beautiful nature, even “mountainous” terrain.
Under supervision of a guide we will visit the castle after which we will have a serene stroll through the old streets, filled with souvenir shops in authentic buildings. During this walk, there will be time for refreshment and delicious snacks. Once we have energized ourselves, our bus will take you back to Prague where you can complete your day of discovery or join us on our Prague Castle evening tour!
