HIGHLIGHTS

: *Visit the impressive Fontainebleau outside of Paris
*Visit Les Invalides and the tomb of Napoleon I

Take a tour of French military and royal history with a visit to one of the oldest royal residences in France, Fontainebleau, and the complex of museums and monuments at Les Invalides. We’ll take a step back in time with a knowledgeable guide who will regale you with the fascinating history of these two impressive places.

Firstly we head about 35 miles southeast of Paris to the stunning Fontainebleau, nestled amongst 20,000 hectares of forest, and home to the visibly striking Fontainebleau château and gardens. It is one of the most beautiful châteaux in France with 1900 rooms and an equally grand history. You’ll be guided through the splendid royal apartments, where French royalty and aristocracy such as Napoleon Bonaparte walked, and afterwards you’ll have time to wander through the romantic park and gardens.

Next stop is Les Invalides - a complex of museums and monuments related to the glorious military history of France. It offers an unparalleled view of the country’s past where you can learn about the role of Les Invalides throughout the centuries, with some of the world’s most prestigious collections. You will also see the tomb of Napoleon I in the Cathedral of Les Invalides before the end of the tour.
