This trip is timed to avoid the midday heat, so you’ll get the chance to explore Valencia in the cooler hours of the afternoon and evening. We’ll start off with a guided tour around the old town’s shady streets, ticking off some of the city’s greatest hits, like the sky-skimming cathedral. It’s framed by an apse that would look at home on Rome’s Colosseum, while the main façade is textbook Baroque – all winged cherubs and ornate columns. Budding Indiana Jones’ should note that the stone chapel here apparently houses none other than the Holy Grail. After a snack stop in Corte Ingles – Spain’s answer to John Lewis – we’ll head to the Albufera Nature Park, where you’ll step aboard a typical Valencian boat for a sunset lake cruise.
