The church has been the main parish of the city since it was built - mid XIII century. Its two towers are a symbol of Kraków. It is known mainly for two things. The first one is inside of it – one of the biggest wooden gothic altars in the world. It was created by Wit Stwosz five centuries ago. The second reason is a legend about a trumpeter who warned the citizens against coming invadors - Tatars. While playing his alarm he was shoot by an arrow.
