A tour in a Nysa 522, a cult Communist-era car to the most famous places in Warsaw. It is a journey in time and a wonderful adventure. We will tell you what socialism meant in Warsaw, go for a ride along the avenue where parades used to be organised, show you all the most important buildings dating back to the times of Communism, and at the end show you an apartment with the typical Communist-era interior decor. The tour would not be complete without the visiting of communist musem and a shot of vodka and a piece of bread served with lard and a pickled cucumber.
During the tour You will see different faces of Warsaw: from the yards of the 19th century tenement houses, moving through Constitution Square, The Palace of Culture and Science, a street of the Jewish ghetto which has survived the ravages of time, and onto pre-war Praga on the other side of the Vistula River.?You will drive around Warsaw in an original communist-era Van – famous NYSA 522. This car was commonly used by Polish police so you will feel very safe on board!?We will start from comparing the pre-war tenement houses with the modern Warsaw’s skyline at Grzybowski Square. This place is unique as it tells stories from many different periods in the city’s history as well as it gives an idea of the possible future urban development.?
Next we will move to discovering the socialist relicts of Warsaw – The Palace of Culture and Science, Constitution Square as well as big, concrete blocks of flats. You will hear many interesting stories about daily life in communist Poland – what people did, ate, cared about, lacked, missed or dreamt of. You will see as well a replica of a typical flat from the communist times – full of original furniture, devices and items. That’s a must-see!?In Praga we will do things that regular tourists never do. From visiting a bazaar, where in the past you could buy almost everything (even a tank as legend has it), through to the gates where time stopped before the Second World War, and from the old ‘Koneser’ Vodka Factory to Soho Factory- which is slowly turning into the artistic centre of Praga.?After a tour full of surprises and emotions, you have a chance to chill out in a real socialist bar. Also we invite you for a shot of typical polish vodka in communist museum essential to digest all the stories that you've heard!
