This daytrip takes you to another continent, as you visit the Moroccan city of Tangier. To start with, you’ll take a coastal drive alongside the Atlantic Ocean, down to Tarifa, mainland Spain’s southernmost point. From here, it’s a ferry ride over to Tangier, the gateway to Africa, on Morocco’s north coast. The city is divided into two – the old city, and a modern half. Your day focuses on the old quarters. Here, you’ll tip-toe through the narrow streets of the kasbah, the walled former fortress of the sultan. There’ll be a break to watch a snake charmer show, too. A typical Moroccan lunch is also part of the deal – expect to pile your plates with spicy lamb tagines and couscous. Afterwards, there’ll be a chance to wander around the medina on your own. You can dip in and out of the stalls and shops while giving your haggling skills a go, before you catch the return ferry to Spain.
