We pick you up from a place of your choice and we depart for an ancient vineyard, where our local wine expert explains you everything about the peculiar viticulture system “kouloura” of the famous indigenous variety Assyrtiko, the only life form that managed to survive the huge volcanic eruption which took place at 1630 B.C. and changed the whole face of the island.
Together you will visit two of the best wineries of the island, start with a tour through the winery followed by a degustation of its four most remarkable wines, with every part being held by our oenologist George.
Every winery has been selected for its quality in every aspect meaning wine quality, location and architectural beauty and of course food quality, since food (meaning Greek delicacies like “graviera” cheese) and wine pairing is part of the tour!
The last stop is a family owned traditional farm, located at the most precious and genuine part of the island, Akrotiri, the southern part of the island. Over there we taste the island’s most prestigious agricultural products that the volcanic soil has given to us. The round zucchinis, the capers, the traditional goat cheese of Santorini, “chloro”, and the famous Santorinian cherry tomatoes. Then we taste the wines of the farm’s traditional winery, wines like the dry white Nychteri and Vinsanto, the famous dessert wine.
