Información

During this tour you’ll take a short jump back in time and learn all about the events of the last 100 years in Prague. Your guide will take you to the most significant spots and fully explain all you need to know to understand the happenings of WWI, WWII and communism, right up to the present day.

We start right off in the centre of the Old Town where you’ll hear how events lead to Klement Gottwald announcing the “Communist Victory” in 1948, before heading to an original Stalin monument and learning about his influence in this part of the world. Next up is Square of the Republic (Namesti Republiky), named after democratic state of Czechoslovakia founded in 1918 where you’ll learn about the effect of WWI here and the formation of Czechoslovakia.

To get an indepth understanding of life during communism in Prague we’ll then visit a museum of communism where your guide will explain the day to day hardships faced by citizens and the positive points from that era too and you’ll see genuine relics from that time.

We continue on to the street of Political Prisoners to see a seat of Communist party and headquarters of the much-feared Gestapo, where many brave resistance fighters met their end. After we head onto Wenceslas Square, which was covered with tanks and debris in 1968’s “Prague Spring”, as the forces of the Warsaw pact crushed the reform movement. We’ll finish our tour near the National Avenue that saw the students protesting against the Nazi occupation in 1939 and against the Communist regime in 1989 and where you’ll hear about the self-immolation of Jan Palach and see the monument to his sacrifice.
