Sevilla City Sightseeing
Explore sensational Seville at your own pace with the hop on-hop off City Sightseeing open-top double-decker bus tour. Enjoy panoramic views of the Andalusian capital and alight at any one of the 12 stops, which are located close to top sights and attractions. You can also avail of four guided walking tours through some of Seville’s most picturesque districts and free entry to the Church of Salvador. The buses operate every day and your pass is valid for 24 hours.
There are stops by the Torre de Oro (Golden Tower) on the riverbank; at the Plaza de España and Plaza America (both in the marvellous Maria Luisa Park); at San Jacinto and Calle Castilla (both in the vibrant and colourful Triana district); at the site where Expo 92 was held and at Isla Magica (both on Cartuja Island); at Macarena; at Torre de los Perdigones; at Alameda de Hercules; at the Plaza del Duque; and at the Plaza de Armas. All leave you within easy walking distance of the main landmarks.
The four walking tours are of Maria Luisa Park, the former Jewish quarter of Santa Cruz, the district of Macarena and the earthy Triana neighbourhood, which is renowned for its vibrant social life and legendary fiestas.
The beautiful baroque Church of Salvador, the second biggest basilica in Seville, has for centuries unfairly lived in the shadow of the cathedral but a major renovation project has rekindled it and also led to the opening of a major new attraction, the crypts.
Seville Aquarium
Retrace Magellan’s two year voyage to the Spice Islands in an hour and a half journey through the Seville Aquarium. Encounter over 7,000 sea creatures, 400 species and one of Europe’s deepest shark tanks in this fascinating and educational experience.
At the end of the 700 metre passage you will have embarked on an epic journey from the Guadalquivir river, across the Atlantic Ocean, up the Amazon and over to the Pacific. Take time to touch and feel sea cucumbers, star fish and sea urchins at the touch pool and learn about the mermaid´s purses and eggs in the nursery. At the coral reef tanks you will be spellbound by the colourful array of tropical fish and the other resident reptiles such as tortoises, anacondas, boas, caimans, tree frogs, and sea turtles.
The highlight of any trip to the Seville Aquarium is the imposing 9 metre deep shark tank. Don´t be afraid as you step through the glass tunnel with two million litres of water above you, home to the stars of the show: two bull sharks. Take away a fishy souvenir and at the end of your Magellan adventure, take a break in the café serving a selection of hot and cold drinks and food.
