Excursion to Glaciers National Park

After breakfast, we will start our guided tour along Route 11 towards Los Glaciares National Park. We will pass by the edge of the main body of Argentino Lake and move on towards the branch called Rico. We will stop at the entrance of the National Park in order to pay the admission fee and, once inside the park, we will go to “Curva de los Suspiros” (“Curve of Sighs”), where we will get off the vehicle in order to see the Perito Moreno Glacier for the first time.

Further on, we will stop at the Muelle Bajo las Sombras (Pier Under the Shadows) so that those who are willing to go sailing can get closer to the southern wall of the Glacier (optional). Then we will move on to the front catwalks of the glacier, where we will watch it from different balconies and enjoy our free time by appreciating the various detachments. Return to El Calafate.

Estancia Cristina Classic Adventure Navegation

The tour begins with the pickup from your hotel in El Calafate. Relax on the 28-mile (45-kilometer) journey to the port at Punta Bandera, where your three-hour boat cruise departs. Enjoy croissants and hot drinks served on board the comfortable boat as you glide among icebergs, past the stunning scenery of snow-covered peaks. Sail to the western front of the Upsala Glacier, and then cruise along Cristina Channel to Estancia Christina.

Disembark at the historic estancia, and learn the history of the sheep and cattle ranch. After lunch (own expense), take a guided tour to Costumbrista Museum (former Shearing Shed) and the take the guided hike to Caterina River and the Chapel, and walk around the buildings of the Country Estate. In the late afternoon, relax on the boat ride back to the port of Punta Bandera, arriving at around 7:30pm, then be dropped off at your hotel at El Calafate.
