Scratch below the surface in Turkey and you’ll find ancient Greece. Izmir, the country’s third largest city, has been inhabited for thousands of years and was known as Smyrna in classical times.
The city is packed with history and attractions. With this fascinating guided tour, we visit to Kemeralti, the traditional bazaar district. Here the tour visits the historic clock tower in Konak Square before free time in the bazaar which dates back more than 700 years.
Meeting point: Hotel pick-up with departure by coach between 8.00am and 9.00am and return journey back at 3.45pm. Tours are in English. You should have comfortable shoes, money, cameras, a cap and take a cardigan and sweatshirt in April, May and October.
