HIGHLIGHTS:

Air-conditioned buses are definitely a preferable sightseeing option here, due to the hot climate, making this mini island tour ideal. It’s more pleasant and you can see a lot more places, in a shorter amount of time.
Start by visiting the Department of Environment and Coastal Resources information center in the Bight community. Here we’ll explore the exhibits that unravel the island’s wildlife and goes into further depth about the natural environment. Listen to the intelligent efforts that are in place to protect the local ecosystems in Turks and Caicos.
Next the tour makes its way to the world’s only conch farm, Caicos Conch Farm. This unique farm is an educational visit that explores the life cycle of the Caribbean Queen Conch. Watch the cultivating process and learn about the various stages it undertakes from hatching to metamorphosis to the post-larval stages of life. A well spent 30 minutes and a one of a kind experience.
Moving on, we pass the rocks engraved by shipwrecked sailors in the 18th Century and still remain to this very day next to the beach in Sapodilla Hill. To bring this tour to an end, try some traditional Bambarra Rum, famously made in Turks and Caicos and derives from sugar canes. The rum is named after a town in Caicos where shipwrecked slaves landed in the early 1840’s.
