The day begins with a morning drive to Ihlara Canyon which is a 16 km long gorge cut into volcanic rock in the southern part of Cappadocia. Here was the first settlement of Christians escaping from invading armies and also hundreds of old churches in the volcanic rock caves. After walking through the canyon by Melendiz stream we will have lunch at Belisirma then visit the huge and sprawling Selime Monastery which was carved out of the rock by Christian monks in the 13th. Century AD.
Then our next stop will be Yaprakhisar Village to take some photos. There are a lot of fairy chimneys and it has a fantastic view of Selime Monastery. People built houses, storage, churches and shelters by carving into these fairy chimneys.
Next on the way back we will visit Derinkuyu Underground City. There are many underground cities at Cappadocia, but the biggest and deepest one is Derinkuyu. This fascinating complex houses wine and oil presses, stables, cellars, storage rooms, living quarters, chapels and the ventilation shaft used to ventilate the underground city.
Our last stop is Pigeon Valley where you can enjoy spectacular views and take memorable photos of the natural cliffs and man-made caves. Finally, you will be transferred to your hotels.
