Fort Adelaide (also known as La Citadelle) was built in a very strategic location on higher lands of Port Louis at 240 feet above sea level. The construction of Fort Adelaide started on 1832 and completed after almost ten years. Fort Adelaide offers a vast panorama on Port-Louis and its harbour. The British built this fortress in fear of a civil war from the remaining French settlers on the island and also for the purpose of guarding the harbour against enemy attacks. From the Fort Adelaide, we guarantee a breath-taking view of Port Louis and of the mountain range surrounding Port Louis.
Visit the Port Louis Waterfront and the Le Caudan Waterfront shopping complex. There are numerous exciting shopping outlets and restaurants overlooking the Port Louis harbour. The Le Caudan Waterfron shopping complex extends about 170 boutiques at a shopper’s disposal. Among them, propose the M.A.S.T Ship model shop where frail rafts, cutters, schooners or majestic gallions have been rebuilt with teakwood in their finest details by local artisans of unbeatable talent. The craft market in Le Caudan Waterfront in particular is a hive of activity with wonderful ambiance where you are sure to find a lot of souvenirs for the family back home.

After lunch, we proceed to the Mauritius horse racing club commonly called the Champ de Mars that was founded in 1812, making it the oldest horse-racing club in the Southern Hemisphere, and one of the oldest in the world. Horse racing in Mauritius is a local happening, a lot of people in Mauritius are involved with horse racing, and you can expect to have about 30,000 visitors in each race day. This tour combines history, tradition, glamour and excitement at the Mauritius horse racing arena.
