Start your day at the world famous floating market of "Damnern Saduak", which is located about 100 kilometres southwest of Bangkok. There are countless floating markets throughout the country, many within a couple of hours of the capital. The colourfully clad merchants at these lively markets paddle along congested canals in sturdy canoes laden with fresh fruits and vegetables to sell to shoppers on the banks.
There is a lot of chatter and activity - bargaining is common - that's all part of the fun - but don't expect to get the price down more than a few baht. From fruits and flowers to everyday needs, it leaves nothing to be desired, although it is now somewhat over commercialized. You visit the lively market at its best early in the morning, before the crowds arrive and the day's heat breaks. This is an exciting and fun way to see the local life and to go bargain hunting.
Continue to Maeklong Railway Market, or “Talad Rom Hoop” in Thai. Upon arrival the guide will introduce you to the history of the area. See the action in several minutes before the train is due to pass through the market. The process happens so quick it will amaze you for this unique moment. Transfer you back to the meeting point in Bangkok.
